Local woman features in Defence Force’s ‘I Am A Veteran’ online series

A woman from Athlone has appeared in the Defence Force’s first ‘I Am A Veteran’ video, where veterans share their stories with the public.

Amy O’Connor served in the Defence Forces for 21 years before retiring in January 2019. She now works as a development and motivational speaker under her business AOC Coaching. She is also a career change adviser for military personnel who are considering leaving the force or re-aligning themselves within the Defence Forces.

In the video, Amy explains what she believes it means to be a veteran and how her experience in the Defence Forces has helped her transition to civilian life.
