Moate CS and St Hilda's join forces for art piece

Moate CS Transition Year students, along with the service users of St Hilda’s Moate have been working on a new artistic feature for the Sensory Garden at Dún Na Sí Amenity Park. The feature is a Wooden ‘Mix & Match’ Puzzle and replaces one of the existing features which has deteriorated with weathering.

The young adults from St Hilda’s worked on the nine colourful cubes, designing and painting their surfaces. Each cube has an X and an O and garden insects to cover their sides. The students designed frame surround for the feature. They burned the images of Mix and Match’, ‘Mix the Shapes’ and ‘Match the Shapes’ into the wood.

During the second school term, with COVID lockdown, the students and the young adults from St Hilda’s had virtual meetings on Zoom to chat and discuss their progress..

The students involved in the project are Sarah Hogg, Niamh Corcoran, Sarah Browne, Clodagh Simpson, Abbie Muldoon, John Brady, David O’Reilly, Saoirse McGuiness, Samantha Guinan, Jack Cunningham, Caitlin Finneran and Fionn Lyons.

This interactional unit is now assembled in the Sensory Garden for all to enjoy.
