Two lives lost in tragic overnight house fire in South Roscommon
Two people lost their lives overnight in a house fire in South Roscommon.
The tragedy occurred at a house in Gurth na sharvogue, near Ballydangan.
It's believed the people who died were a man in his 50s and a woman in her 40s, both of whom were from the local area.
Two units of the Athlone Fire Service were called to the fire at 5.30am this morning, with the Ballinasloe fire crew, and the senior fire officer for Roscommon also in attendance.
The Garda technical crew was at the scene this morning and was liaising with the fire service in advance of post mortems being carried out.
