Minister to address chamber webinar on TU impact

Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science Simon Harris will speak to industry leaders across the Midlands at an Athlone Chamber webinar on Friday at 10.30am, to outline the benefits of the new Technological University to the region. The Minister will be joined on the webinar by Professor Ciarán Ó Catháin and Dr Niall Seery from AIT and Carmel Owens, CEO of Sidero. The decision by Minister Harris recently to approve a bid for Technological University status heralds the beginning of what is potentially a new age in investment and development in the Midlands and Midwest regions.

Speaking ahead of the webinar, the Chamber President Alan Shaw stated: “We are very excited and enthused about the decision that AIT-LIT Consortium will become a new Technological University from October 1. Professor Ciarán Ó Catháin and his team at AIT deserve huge credit for what has been achieved here. Our industry members across the Midlands will undoubtedly benefit hugely from the economic spin off.

Registration for this special webinar is necessary, and the link is available across all Athlone Chamber social media platforms, as well as AIT platforms. Entitled “Local University Meets Local Industry”, the 90 minute webinar starts at 10.30am this Friday 2 July.
