Westmeath winner claims €500,000 EuroMillions Plus top prize

The Westmeath EuroMillions player who scooped the top prize of €500,000 in the EuroMillions Plus draw on Friday, June 4, has officially claimed their prize.

The lucky individual became half a million euro richer after purchasing the winning Quick Pick ticket at the Circle K M6 Athlone Motorway service station in Fossagh, Moate, at the beginning of the month.

The Lake County player was overjoyed after scanning their EuroMillions ticket on the National Lottery app.

"When I scanned the ticket on my phone, the 'You've won big!' message popped up on the screen immediately.

"I thought that maybe it could be the €5,000 prize for the EuroMillions Raffle, but when I went through all of the raffle numbers and realised that I didn't have any of the ones drawn, I was a bit unsure.

"And then of course I checked the draw results and saw that I had the Plus numbers – what a way to start the summer!"

The lucky winner plans to look after family with the unexpected windfall: "It's great to be able to clear the mortgage and of course plan some trips away. I'm looking forward to enjoying a big holiday as soon as it's safe to do so."

Meanwhile, this Friday's (July 2) EuroMillions jackpot is set to roll to an estimated €80 million.

There is still no news on the claiming of the €6.4 million lotto jackpot won by a ticket sold at the Applegreen service station in Arcadia, Athlone, last month.
