Westmeath TD is tying the knot today!

Westmeath TD and Minister of State Robert Troy is attending his most important engagement of the year today, as he gets married to his long-term partner, Aideen Ginnell.

The Ballynacargy native announced in April 2020 that the couple had gotten engaged, saying Aideen "has been with me through it all and is my very best friend."

In May of this year he tweeted that it was all systems go for the July 15 wedding:

At last night's Fianna Fáil parliamentary party meeting, good wishes were extended to the couple ahead of their big day.

In a social media post this morning, Robert Troy wrote: "A late one in the Dáil last night to pass the legislation to get indoor hospitality back open, safely.

"Thank you to my colleagues and all who have wished Aideen and I well for today. I'll be taking a few days and will be back to work early next week.

"My office will remain open while I'm away so please don't hesitate to get in contact with either office (Mullingar or Athlone) if you need assistance."
