Henshaw to start for Lions in first test against South Africa

This weekend will bring another milestone in Robbie Henshaw's outstanding career, after the Coosan man was selected to start for the British and Irish Lions in their first test match against South Africa.

This morning Warren Gatland named his starting team for Saturday's game, which is the first of three tests against the reigning World Champions.

Henshaw, whose involvement with the previous Lions tour was curtailed by injury, was chosen to start in the number 12 role.

Jack Conan and Tadhg Furlong were the only other Irish internationals named in the starting team, while Tadhg Beirne and Conor Murray were named on the bench.

The first test takes place in Cape Town and begins at 5pm (Irish time) on Saturday.
