Mattress Mick set to open new Athlone outlet

Colourful bedding retailer Mattress Mick, who styles himself as the 'Mattress Pricefighter', is set to open a new store in Athlone.

The chain recently announced on social media that it will open a new outlet in Blyry Industrial Estate very soon, selling Irish-made mattresses and bedroom furniture.

Michael 'Mick' Flynn, who is Managing Director of the chain, is known for his strong media presence and viral marketing campaigns, witty videos and songs selling his products.

A colourful character and the ultimate salesman, he was the subject of the popular docu-film 'Mattress Men' back in 2016.

Initially calling himself Dublin's number one mattress salesman, Mattress Mick's business empire has stretched further than the capital in recent times, with his latest stores opening in Roscrea in Tipperary and Carlow. The company already has bases in Coolock and Naas Road in Dublin, along with Drogheda and Waterford.

A spokesperson for Mattress Mick has yet to respond to a query from Westmeath Independent in relation to the Athlone store opening which is expected to happen this month.
