Young Athlone footballer in Ireland U16 training camp this week

Athlone Town player Eoin Sheerin is taking part in an Ireland U16 training camp this week in Dublin.

Sheerin is one of 19 players called up by Republic of Ireland Under-16 Head Coach Paul Osam to the three-day camp.

Osam is working through his options with the U16s set for an international double-header in September and then the prestigious Victory Shield tournament, which is scheduled for October in Belfast.

The training camp follows on foot of two assessment days.

Sheerin played his schoolboy football with St Francis before joining Athlone Town where he is now part of the Un 15 squad.

This is the first taste of international football for 2006 born players after they missed out on experience at U15 level due to COVID-19.
