New manager at Michael Heavin Carpets & Furniture
Having supplied furniture and flooring in Athlone and across the midlands for over 30 years, Michael Heavin Carpets & Furniture is excited to appoint a new manager.
Brian Martin joins the team in his new role, and with past experience as a manager in furniture and hardware stores across the country he is set to be a reliable source of knowledge for customers. Brian has expertise in several areas, but particularly in wood flooring and bedding, and he will bring a fresh outlook to the store over the coming months as he begins to bring in new lines and update stock.
Another recent addition to the team comes from Elke Kahnert, who brings with her past sales experience in Ireland, the United Kingdom and South Africa. She has in-depth knowledge of all forms of carpet and floor covering, both for domestic and commercial markets and customers can have confidence in her addressing any queries in relation to the quality and colour of carpets in the store.
Alongside Brian and Elke, John O’Toole remains with the team as a well-known face that customers can trust to provide the best possible service, and Phillip Keogh and his fitting team are on hand with no job too big or too small. Rosaleen Heavin and the family proudly continue running the store that became a household name in the midlands as a result of the leadership that Michael showed for over three decades. Since reopening the store to the public in May, Rosaleen says that they have been very busy.
“During the last lockdown we were considered an essential service to the rental markets, so we could stay open by appointment only, but naturally business was slow,” she said. “We reopened fully in May with other retail outlets, and we have been very busy since.
“People seem to be doing a lot of home renovations and things like that, so we’ve been kept busy. As a local business with local employees and strong links to the community, we really do appreciate the support.”
Michael Heavin Carpets & Furniture continues to stock the highest quality goods, including Irish bedding brands King Koil and Respa, and is the only store in Athlone that stocks Odearest products. Similarly, the store has the best of bedroom and sitting room furniture, and stocks all major carpet brands such as Westex and Cormar.
