Athlone Gardai issue appeal after 'serious incident' last Friday night

Gardai in Athlone have appealed for a male who was in the town last Friday night to contact them in connection with an investigation into a serious incident.

The man in question "came to the assistance of a female who was in distress following a serious incident," the Gardai said.

The male was in the vicinity of Athlone Castle late on Friday night (September 3) and into the early hours of Saturday morning, between the hours of 11.30pm and 12.30am.
