Major drugs seizure in Athlone
A major haul of drugs worth an estimated €113,200 has been discovered in Athlone.
The seizure was made following the search of a residential property in the town on Tuesday night at around 8.15pm.
In all, heroin worth €79,240, cannabis with a street value of €25,000, €6,700 of diazepam tablets and €2,310 of cocaine were all found during the course of the search.
A male youth was arrested at the scene and is currently being detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice act 1984 at Athlone Garda station.
Investigations are ongoing.
All drugs will now be sent for further analysis.
