Athlone Credit Union is seeking volunteers

Athlone Credit Union is in the process of forming a panel of suitable volunteer candidates to fill vacancies on the Board of Directors and various committees.

It is looked particularly people with a background in human resources, legal, marketing, and management skills. General financial acumen is desirable.

As a member-owned financial cooperative, Athlone Credit Union relies on member volunteers to serve on its Board of Directors and Board Oversight Committee.

Volunteers ensure financial soundness and guide strategic and policy decisions in a wide variety of areas including technology, branch development, product development, marketing and member services.

By becoming an Athlone Credit Union volunteer, you can help your credit union continue to grow and respond to members' needs.

Volunteering also provides an exciting opportunity to learn, develop business and leadership skills, and network with others.

Volunteers who come together for the sole purpose of representing the best interest of Athlone Credit Union's members are the cornerstone of what makes credit unions unique. Credit Union volunteers enrich the lives of all the members they represent and enhance their own leadership, management, and financial skills.

Board of Directors members are elected to three-year terms of office at the annual meeting.

They set future strategy, develop policies, oversee Athlone CU's financial security, review the CEO's progress in achieving goals and objectives and represent the interest of the entire membership.

In addition to attending monthly board meetings, directors have opportunities to serve on committees and receive free training and education on issues important to the credit union and its members.

Volunteers need to be members in good standing with Athlone CU, to be at least 18 years of age, available for monthly and occasional special meetings, be willing to attend planning sessions and training programmess at the credit union's expense and able to work as a team member

Volunteers also should not be a relative or family member of or in a significant relationship with a current employee, director, or Board Oversight Committee member in Athlone Credit Union.
