Roscommon LGFA appoints new team manager

Roscommon LGFA has appointed Ollie Lennon as the new manager of the county's adult ladies football team.

Lennon succeeds former Mayo star Diane O'Hora, who vacated the post before the conclusion of Roscommon's 2021 championship campaign.

Employed as a Games Promotion Officer with the Roscommon County Board, Lennon is well known in GAA circles, particularly in the south of the county.

A native of Drum, Lennon lives in the Taughmaconnell area. Ollie is married to Maria and the couple have three boys, Oisin, Fionn and Eanna.

Lennon previously worked as a fitness instructor in the Hodson Bay Hotel where he was a popular member of the staff.

Lennon played underage football with Clann na nGael and, ironically, he is the manager of the Kilbride team who will face Clann in this year's Roscommon senior final on Saturday week, October 30. Kilbride are bidding to win their sixth title in succession, with Lennon having guided the team to five in a row.

The Roscommon ladies failed to qualify for the knockout stages of the 2021 All-Ireland intermediate championship, and they had to defeat Longford to avoid the final relegation play-off.

In 2020, Roscommon, with Michael Finneran then in charge, reached the All-Ireland intermediate semi-finals where they lost out to Westmeath.

Lennon will be hoping to guide the Rossies to promotion from Division 3 of the National Football League.
