Athlone woman's theatre company to stage Galway production

An award-winning theatre company co-founded by an Athlone woman will present a new drama in Galway on Wednesday.

Eva’s Echo will bring its original performance of Jungle Door to Town Hall Theatre mainstage in Galway.

Eva’s Echo is a Galway based company founded by Rena Bryson and Hazel Doolan, from The Derries, Bonavalley.

Jungle Door, written by Bryson, invites its audience to indulge in the joyous, disheartening, and hopeful moments over a year shared by ex-lovers Michelle and Louise as they rekindle their friendship.

Challenged by beauty standards and the housing crisis Michelle smiles through the filler and plans her perfect day, unaware her bridesmaid is hiding a dark secret. This original performance featuring original music, drama, and comedy is one night only and not to be missed!

The plot is topical and relevant in modern society as it addresses the housing crisis and the impact of social media on mental health.

It encourages discussions on these topics while representing characters in a story that does not focus exclusively on their sexuality but rather their individual struggles in modern Ireland.

The play also explores topics unique to a relationship between a lesbian and a bisexual woman.

Bryson and Doolan both act in the production, while Cornelius Dwyer is the director and Sabrina Kelleher is the designer.

‘Jungle Door’ will be performed at 8pm on November 10. Tickets are available at www.tht.ie.
