Mild day but rain and drizzle this afternoon

Weather Update

Cloudy with a lot of dry and relatively mild weather for the rest of the week. Turning cooler and brighter over the weekend.

That's according to the latest weather bulletin from Met Éireann.

A generally dry start this morning with some brightness in the east and southeast. Rain and drizzle in the west and northwest will become persistent in the morning and will slowly spread across the country through the day, in a freshening southwest wind. The rain will become patchier towards evening with drier and brighter conditions following into the west. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees. Moderate to fresh and gusty west to southwest winds will be occasionally strong on western and northwestern coasts.

Quite cool tonight in parts of the south and east with clears spells allowing temperatures to drop back to between of 2 to 4 degrees, with some grass frost possible. A little milder in the west and north with scattered showers affecting Ulster overnight. Moderate westerly winds will be fresh at times on northern and northwestern coasts.

A dry start in many areas tomorrow apart from a few light showers in the north with some bright or sunny spells further south. Cloud will thicken from the west through the afternoon, bringing patchy drizzle, mainly over the northern half of the country with much of the south remaining dry. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees in moderate westerly winds.

Wednesday night is expected generally cloudy with patchy outbreaks of rain and drizzle. However, many eastern and southern areas will stay dry. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees. Light to moderate southwesterly breezes with patches of mist and fog developing.

Mild and cloudy on Thursday with a good deal of dry weather apart from light patchy rain and drizzle. Highest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees in moderate southwesterly winds.

Cloudy and misty on Thursday night but largely dry with just the odd patch of light rain and drizzle. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees.

Another mild and mainly cloudy day on Friday with patches of rain and drizzle. Some bright spells may occur through the day. Highest temperatures of 12 to 14 degrees in light to moderate southwesterly winds.

Friday night is forecast to be mainly dry with some clear spells in the south. Cloudy further north with outbreaks of rain reaching northwestern coasts towards dawn. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees.

Some dry and bright conditions to start in the south of the country on Saturday. Outbreaks of rain in the northwest clear southeastwards through the afternoon to brighter and cooler condition from the north with scattered showers. Temperatures dropping through the afternoon in a moderating northerly breeze with highs of 9 to 11 degrees.

Sunday is promised a cold and bright day with good sunshine and scattered showers. Afternoon highs of 7 to 10 degrees in moderate northerly winds.
