Upcoming Athlone musical is postponed

Athlone Musical Society has announced that it's planned production of 'All Shook Up' has been postponed.

The society's annual show normally draws large crowds at the Dean Crowe Theatre in late February or early March.

In 2020, its production of 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat' was completed a short time before the first round of Covid-19 restrictions were introduced. An annual show did not go ahead in 2021.

Preparations for the Elvis-themed 'All Shook Up' began in October, but the Musical Society said on Monday night that it had decided not to proceed with it for now.

"Unfortunately we have made the decision to postpone our production of All Shook Up," it said in a social media post.

"We feel it's the best thing to do to keep our cast, production team, crew and audiences safe.

"We're discussing future dates at the moment, and will update you all soon.

"We'll be rockin' and rollin' on that stage soon and it will be worth the wait," the message concluded.
