Clara stabbing incident under investigation

Gardaí are investigating a stabbing incident in the early hours of this morning in Clara.

Officers were called to an incident in the Silverdale housing estate in the town around 5am, and on arrival, they discovered a male with stab wounds to upper body.

The man, who is in his 30s was brought to the Midland Regional Hospital, Tullamore, for treatment. His injuries are said to not be life threatening.

During follow-up investigations today (Friday), gardaí arrested two men in Tullamore town today, one his 20s, the other in his late teens.

It was subsequently discovered one of the two also had stab injuries, and he was later brought to hospital for treatment for non-life threatening injuries.

The other man is currently being detained in Tullamore Garda Station where he can be held for 12 hours.

Meanwhile, the injured man will be questioned once his medical treatment is concluded.
