Met Éireann meteorologist Joanna Donnelly.

'Don't go digging out your snow boots just yet!' says Met Éireann

Met Éireann forecaster Joanna Donnelly has moved to address speculation that snowfall might be on the way in Ireland in the coming days.

In a video clip at lunchtime today she said she "wanted to set the record straight," indicating that snowmen were unlikely to be popping up in the short-term.

"Met Éireann are not forecasting any significant snow event for the foreseeable future," she said.

"You might, if you're lucky, get a dusting on the high hills and mountains, but no significant snow for the foreseeable."
