Major cannabis haul seized following Athlone search
Gardaí seized cannabis worth €20,000 on Friday following a search of a house in Athlone.
The haul was discovered when the Divisional Drugs Unit carried out a planned search of a home in Willow Park, under warrant, on Friday afternoon last (January 28) around 2.30pm.
A man and a woman in their 30s were arrested and brought in for questioning. The male was subsequently charged and appeared before a special court in Mullingar on Saturday, where he was remanded on bail.
He is expected to come before Athlone District Court in the near future.
The woman was later released without charge. A file is expected to be prepared for the DPP.
