Council and Waterways Ireland to address Oireachtas committee tomorrow

The Joint Committee on Public Petitions will meet tomorrow, Thursday, to resume consideration of two petitions regarding unauthorised development on the River Shannon.

The meeting at 1.30pm in Committee Room 4 of Leinster House will hear from representatives of Waterways Ireland and Westmeath County Council regarding Public Petition Numbers P00009/21 “Unauthorised Development” from Mr Michael Barrett and P00023/21 “Unauthorised Development on the River Shannon” from Mr Jamie Forde Kelly.

Mr Barrett previously addressed the committee on Thursday, December 9.

The Joint Committee on Public Petitions is a standing Committee of the Houses of the Oireachtas and has 11 Members, seven from the Dáil and four from the Seanad.

The meeting in the Committee Room 4 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.

The purpose of the parliamentary public petitions system in Ireland is to allow members of the public to raise issues of general public interest or concern or issues of public policy with the Houses of the Oireachtas. The petitions system provides direct access to this committee.
