Be a Part of It - Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann Mullingar 2022

Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann is the premier cultural event in Ireland and is the world’s largest annual celebration of traditional Irish music, language, song and dance.

The Fleadh takes place from July 31 until August 7 and brings with it an estimated benefit of €50 million to the local and wider economy and will attract in the region of 500,000 visitors to Mullingar and the surrounding area over the seven days – a quarter of whom will come from overseas.

It is estimated that it will cost in excess of €1.5m to run the fleadh successfully and so the committee are asking businesses to help them to make it an enormous success – and they can’t do that without the support of the people of Mullingar and the local businesses.

Information Day

The fleadh committee say they are delighted to be back out meeting people again and we are really looking forward to the upcoming information day on the Market Square, Mullingar on Saturday February 19 from noon to 3pm.

Everyone is welcome to go along and chat to members of the fleadh team about all the work that is going on in the background as we prepare to welcome Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann to Mullingar.

The fleadh committee want to encourage the people of Westmeath to make this fleadh their own by getting involved in key aspects of this great event.

At the information day find out how to register your accommodation if you wish to host visitors to the area over the period of the fleadh.

And for those who wish to volunteer their time can find out about all the different roles that hundreds of volunteers will be needed for, and how you can register your interest in being a fleadh volunteer.

The business and general public community can also find out how to become sponsors of the fleadh, and there is a range of different options for people who are interested in being a financial supporter of Fleadh 2022.

Fundraisers

The ‘Big Car Draw’ will be launched at the information day on February 19, and the prize, a Toyota Corolla Luna Sport 1.8 Hybrid, will be on display. Tickets will be on sale at €20 each or three for €50. Tickets are also on sale online at fleadhcheoil.ie.

Details of the St Patrick’s Day Tractor Run will be confirmed too. It is to start at 3pm and go through Mullingar, and spectators are encouraged and come out along the route (details on the fleadh website) for what is sure to be a great day out.

There will be prizes to be won for best-dressed tractor (Fleadh Cheoil or St Patrick’s Day theme) and music and fun to be had – more details and pre-registration available on the Fleadh website, fleadhcheoil.ie.

So, to catch up on all the fleadh updates the committee welcome everyone who wants to be part of what will be an historic event to stop by and chat to them on the Market Square Mullingar, and, of course, there will be music and dance to enjoy on the day.
