Sexton out for Paris - Buccs trio on the bench

Johnny Sexton has been ruled out of Saturday’s Six Nations showdown with France in Paris - which has led to Jack Carty being called up to the match-day squad.

Joey Carbery has been given the nod to start at fly-half in place of Sexton, who has a hamstring strain sustained in training, with Athlone native Carty among the replacements. I

f Carty is introduced against France, it will be his first time to feature for Ireland since Andy Farrell became Ireland head coach.

Robbie Henshaw is also among the substitutes, having missed last Saturday's impressive victory over Wales.

An adductor injury caused Henshaw to miss some training sessions ahead of the Wales game and, as a result, the Coosan man was omitted from the squad.

Connacht's Bundee Aki and Garry Ringrose continue their partnership in midfield after both centres were try scorers against Wales.

In the absence of Sexton, second row forward James Ryan will captain the Irish team.

Prop Finlay Bealham is the third Buccaneers player on the Ireland bench for the meeting with France at the Stade de France. Kick-off for the eagerly awaited clash in St Denis is 4.45pm.
