Clann on the hunt for a new manager

Clann na nGael GAA club is on the hunt for a new senior football manager after Liam Kearns stepped down from the position.

Kearns was reappointed as manager at the club's Annual General Meeting late last year, but the former Tipperary and Limerick boss decided to step down earlier this week.

A native of Tralee, Kearns guided Clann to the 2021 Roscommon SFC final in which they were defeated by eventual Connacht champions Padraig Pearses.

Clann also lost out to their neighbours Pearses at the semi-final stage in 2020, which was Kearns' first year in charge.

During his time in charge of Tipperary, Kearns guided the county to the All-Ireland semi-finals, claiming a famous win over Galway en route.

Hopes were high that Kearns would bring the Fahey Cup back to Johnstown, but his surprise departure now leaves Clann searching for a new manager.

Interestingly, Clann's old rivals St Brigid's will be managed by a Kerry man this year, Jerome Stack, and the Listowel native was briefly part of Kearns' management team when the latter was Tipperary manager.
