New Superintendent appointed for Athlone

Athlone has a new Garda Superintendent, with Michelle Baker taking up the position from Monday of this week (February 21).

Superintendent Baker is no stranger to the area, having previously been based at Athlone Garda Station for many years.

She has worked with An Garda Siochana in Athlone as an officer, a Sergeant, and an Inspector.

Towards the end of 2020, she was promoted to the rank of Superintendent and took up that role at Dundalk Garda Station.

In her most recent position prior to her return to Athlone, she was appointed last September to the Garda Strategic Transformation Office, which is responsible for the modernisation of the force.

Supt Baker succeeds Supt David Nolan, who has transferred to Mullingar.
