Monksland company given special merit award

A Monksland-based bridalwear distributor was a special merit winner at the County Roscommon Enterprise Awards for 2022.

Lark Bridal, based in the Monksland Business Park, as well as designing their own range of Bridesmaid and partywear, also distribute the world’s leading bridalwear brands to a global market.

The top prize went to Studio Meala, an award-winning animation studio, based in Boyle, which was launched in 2019 by Stephen Fagan, Jerry Twomey and Sean Cunningham. Since then Studio Meala has grown rapidly to provide animation production services for many leading international studios, broadcasters and streaming platforms as well as having a number of its own animation series in development.

Studio Meala took the top prize of €3000 and will now represent Local Enterprise Office Roscommon at the 22nd National Enterprise Awards at the Mansion House in Dublin on June 2.

Another special merit award for innovation and resilience went to Rita Oates, an artist based in Roscommon town who designs her own brand of greeting cards. fine art prints and scarves; and,

The Roscommon County Enterprise Awards took place as part of a very successful Local Enterprise Week programme of events. There were over 220 physical and virtual events taking place across the country, run by the 31 Local Enterprise Offices from March 7th to 11th.

Speaking during Local Enterprise Week Louise Ward, Head of Enterprise at Local Enterprise Office Roscommon said: “Celebrating local businesses that are highly effective and successful is particularly relevant this year with all the challenges of the Pandemic and the uncertain business environment.”

Local Enterprise Week is organised every year by the Local Enterprise Offices and supported by Enterprise Ireland, local authorities and the Government of Ireland.
