Daffodil Day is a massive fundraising success in Athlone

On Friday, March 25, Daffodil Day returned to Athlone after a two year hiatus and it was a massive fundraising success.

The Irish Cancer Society could not plan it until it was reasonably safe from Covid-19 and then everything happened quickly.

The volunteers were contacted and took their places and there was a great team spirit about them.

Friday was a beautiful day and the generosity of the shoppers on the day was wonderful, and the vibrancy of the people was commented on by all involved, according to Athlone coordinator Mary Fagg.

She thanked the people of the Athlone area who contributed the sum total of €37,066 on the dat. The money will be used in the ongoing fight against cancer by the Irish Cancer Society.
