Painting workshops to celebrate National Drawing Day in Athlone
Two painting workshops will take place in Athlone this Saturday to mark National Drawing Day 2022.
Participants will learn non-traditional mark making techniques using acrylic paint with facilitator Derick Smith. Derick will illustrate and carry out practical demonstrations using acrylic paint in non-traditional ways. He will use a few known contemporary artist as an example, and demonstrate how they created their works using existing and custom-made tools.
The first workshop is for teenagers and will take place from 10.30am to 12pm at Abbey Road Artists' Studios in Athlone.
A second workshop will be held there for adults from 2pm to 3.30pm.
The Luan Gallery joins the National Gallery of Ireland and over 70 art centres, galleries and museums in celebrating National Drawing Day.
The workshops are free but those interested in attending should book in advance as places are limited.
