Teenager arrested over seizure of cash and drugs in Athlone

A male teenager was arrested yesterday (Thursday) following the seizure of a large quantity of cash and drugs in Athlone.

Sergeant Andrew Haran of Athlone Garda Station said officers carried out a planned search of a house yesterday afternoon.

During this operation they recovered cash to the value of over €13,000, and cannabis herb valued at €6,000.

The teen was arrested and detained in relation to the cash and drugs seizure, before being released later yesterday.

Sergeant Haran said a file on the matter would now be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
