Jack Carty vows to return 'bigger and better' after wrist injury

Connacht and Ireland rugby star Jack Carty has confirmed that his season is over after he underwent surgery on a wrist injury.

The 29-year-old Athlone man is out of contention for Ireland's upcoming tour of New Zealand, having posted a picture from his hospital bed yesterday (Tuesday).

Carty, who had a cast on his right forearm, wrote that he was "disappointed my season ends here," but that he would relish the opportunity to "come back bigger and better next season".

Friends and supporters of the local man posted messages of encouragement to him on Twitter and Instagram as he began his recovery journey.

The Irish team will tour New Zealand next month, with test matches against the All Blacks taking place in Auckland, Denedin and Wellington on July 2, July 9, and July 16.
