Official opening of Ballybay garden and car park this weekend

The official opening of the Ballybay Sensory Garden and Car Park will take place on Sunday.

There will be a blessing by the Bishop of Elphin Kevin Doran and a reading by Mr Nigel Foley Fisher, Church of Ireland. The event will take place at the new car park on Sunday, June 12, at 12.15pm.

The contractor has recently completed work on the project, which is now open for public enjoyment.

The overall cast ran to some €230,000 with circa €148,000 received in grant aid from Leader.

The balance of circa €82,000 fell to be raised through local contributions and the committee said this has largely been achieved.

A balance of just over €20,000 owing on a bridging finance loan, however, is outstanding and a raffle is being organised, with an intended date in July, to help bring the project to a successful closures. Tickets are on sale at €10 each and a book of six will cost €50.
