Two local teams on receiving end of absolute crackers

Games involving two local football sides provided two moments of footballing magic this weekend.

Unfortunately, for Athlone Town and Ballinasloe Town both were on the receiving end of the stunning goals.

Athlone Town succumbed to a 2-1 away defeat to Treaty United in Limerick on Friday night.

The game will be remembered for this remarkable long-range free kick from the Treaty captain Jack Lynch.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, Ballinasloe Town were defeated in the RDFL Premier Division Cup final in Lecarrow.

Having been 1-0 up at the interval, they were pulled back by recently crowned Premier Division champions Boyle Celtic, thanks to a Brian McCrann double.

The first goal, on the hour mark, has been the talk of the Roscommon football world since.
