The late Kevin Connaire.

Tributes pour in after sad passing of much-loved Athlone man

Kevin Connaire's family and wide circle of friends are in mourning after the Athlone man's death on Friday last, July 1.

The Clonbrusk native, aged in his early 40s, was a kind and gregarious person who will be remembered for his genuinely friendly and good-natured personality.

In the days since his passing, tributes have been flooding in from many people whose lives he touched over the years.

The former Athlone Community College student was described as "a great character who had a smile and a chat for everyone," and "a true gentleman, who was brilliant company, with a great sense of humour."

Another tribute stated: "His tragic passing is too young and a real loss for Athlone. You will be fondly remembered Kevin, may you rest in peace."

The Olive Bar, on Athlone's Ballymahon Road, posted a social media tribute on Friday, writing: "It's with a heavy heart we are posting this. Unfortunately our friend Kevin passed away this evening.

"You were one in a million Kevin, always smiling and the life and soul of any party... you will be missed by everyone."

St Francis Football Club also marked the passing "all too soon" of one of its former players. "Kevin will be sadly missed by all who knew him," said the club.

Kevin's death is deeply regretted by his heartbroken parents, Vincent and Mary, his aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

He will be reposing at Flynn's Funeral Home, The Strand, tomorrow (Tuesday) from 5pm until 7.30pm, with requiem Mass taking place in Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Coosan, on Wednesday at 12 noon followed by burial afterwards in Coosan Cemetery.

May he rest in peace.
