Buccs fixtures revealed as training begins under O’Sullivan
Michael Silke
New head coach Eddie O’Sullivan gave an impressive power-point presentation to Buccaneers players in the Bounty last week and equally impressive was the large turnout of players.
Circa 50 I would guess, a number not usually seen around the club until perhaps a week or two before the season would be due to kick off! Discipline, culture and attention to detail will be key aspects demanded by the coach.
Training then commenced on Thursday and will continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays from hereon, with all players expected to be on the pitch, duly warmed up, for 90-minute sessions starting at 7.30pm.
Meanwhile, fixtures for the coming season have been revealed. Buccaneers will kick off their Energia All-Ireland League campaign away to City of Armagh on October 1, with the first home game being against Old Wesley the following weekend.
The coming season’s All-Ireland League schedule has one free weekend between every pod of three matches on successive weekends. The 18 games are on a home and away basis with no double away or home fixtures this time which is a welcome change from recent seasons.
