Dubarry Park to host Connacht friendly with Sale Sharks
Dubarry Park in Athlone will host the Connacht senior team’s pre-season friendly with Sale Sharks on Friday, August 26 (kick-off 7pm).
It will be the squad’s first fixture at the Buccaneers RFC ground since 2018, and will allow for Connacht supporters to attend a pre-season game while the new pitch at The Sportsground continues to be installed.
Rugby fans in the Athlone area will be hoping that local stars like Jack Carty, Colm Reilly and the Murray brothers from Brideswell (Niall and Darragh) will feature in this friendly.
In addition, a number of other players who have starred for Buccaneers - such as Ciaran Booth Dave Heffernan and Paul Boyle - are part of the Connacht squad.
Tickets for the game are on sale now at connachtrugby.ie, with prices from just €10 for adults, €5 for juniors and €20 for a family ticket of two adults and two juniors.
All 2022/23 season tickets will be valid for this game, and e-tickets will be distributed to all season ticket holders in advance.
In addition to this fixture, a separate match-day squad will also travel to France that week for a pre-season friendly with Castres Olympique. That game will take place on Wednesday, August 24 in Lacaune with kick-off at 5.30 Irish time.
