Regional Hospital Mullingar readies itself for Fleadh 2022

The management of Midlands Regional Hospital Mullingar have asked the public to "be careful" over the week of the Fleadh.

Hospital management issued a statement a short time ago:

500,000 people are expected to visit Mullingar from Sunday, 31st July 2022 to Sunday 7th August 2022 for Fleadh Cheoil. The Fleadh Cheoil will be a fantastic event for the town and a boost for the local economy, the large influx of people may put greater strain on Regional Hospital Mullingar.

Regional Hospital Mullingar has seen the numbers attending the hospital over the last number of days increase. This is in advance of the expected extra pressure during Fleadh.

With that in mind, hospital management and staff are asking the public to be careful over the coming week during the Fleadh, especially with regard to consuming alcohol.

Advice includes:

Keep cool and stay hydrated

Sip water and take breaks from dancing. Give yourself time to cool down.

Be in the know before you go.

Don’t mix: Mixing alcohol and prescription medication, increases your risk of becoming unwell.

Tell your friends: Be with people you trust. Don’t be afraid to get help.

Anyone attending the A&E in Mullingar over the course of Fleadh may experience long waiting times. Hospital management would like to thank the public for their support and understanding during this period.
