Fleadh success a testament to "committee, volunteers, businesses and residents', says Clarke

A local TD says that the success of the 2022 Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann is a testament to the people of Mullingar pulling together.

Speaking today, Sinn Féin TD for Longford Westmeath and Mullingar resident Deputy Sorca Clarke acknowledged the hard work of the Fleadh Committee, volunteers, businesses and residents of Mullingar, all of which is making Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2022 such a resounding success.

“Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann is the world’s largest annual celebration of Irish music, language, song and dance. 2022 is a special year for the Fleadh, named The Homecoming in celebration of Fleadh's return to Mullingar after the founding of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann here in 1951.

“Musicians, young and old from all over the world have descended on Mullingar for the competitions, the ceoil and the craic and it is wonderful to see so many visitors from home and abroad enjoying this amazing event.

“The stalls, the colours, the flags, the musicians on every corner and the welcoming atmosphere means Mullingar is the place to be until Fleadh Cheoil 2022 ends on Sunday August 7," Deputy Clarke concluded.
