Part of M6 motorway closed today

Motorists travelling along the M6 motorway today should take note that the Eastbound lane between Junction 13 Athlone West and Junction 14 Ballinasloe is closed today for emergency road resurfacing works.

Diversions will be in place from the motorway at Beagh Roundabout along the old N6/R446 (Ballinasloe to Athlone road), through Ballydangan, onto Drum, and into Monksland.

Those local roads will be busier than usual so drivers are asked to take extra care.

The closure is necessary to replace a section of pavement along Junction 14 of the motorway following a serious accident last month.

The closure came into effect at 6am and will remain in place until approximately 9pm (Monday, August 8) with all traffic travelling east diverted.
