Three local food producers share 14 Great Taste awards
Three local food producers were celebrating last week after receiving a total of 14 Great Taste awards between them.
Run by the Guild of Fine Food in the UK, the Great Taste awards are recognised as being above the world's most trusted food and drink awards.
Oliver Carty & Family of Monksland secured eight Great Taste Awards, including one Two-Star award for its SuperValu Beechwood Smoked Easy Carve Ham Fillet.
Its seven One-Star awards went to SuperValu Signature Taste Irish Hampshire Slow Cooked Pork Belly, SuperValu Lightly Smoked Bacon Eye Loin and SuperValu Signature Taste Dry Cure Smoked Cherrywood Bacon as well as its own branded Slow Cooked Hampshire Smoked Bacon Roast; Air Dried Pancetta Pieces and Thin and Crispy Streaky Bacon.
The Monksland-based Do Me A Flavour, which is connected to Oliver Carty & Family, won three One-Star awards for its Truffle and Pink Peppercorn Infused Irish ButterGarlic and Parsley Infused Irish Butter and its Herbal Infused Atlantic Sea Salt
Waldron Meats in Brideswell also won three One-Star awards. These were for the Waldron Family Home Cured Back Rashers, Waldron Family Home Cured Back Bacon Joint and the Waldron Family Baked Ham.
This year, over 5,000 products from 110 countries were given awards out of more than 14,000 entries.
There were 11 Three-Star awards for Irish products from the Republic and 511 Two-Star and One-Star awards.
