Second Covid booster for over-60s to be offered in Roscommon this Saturday

The HSE has announced it will be holding a pop-up Covid-19 vaccination clinic in Castlerea, Roscommon, this Saturday (August 20).

The clinic will take place at Castlerea Primary Care Centre from 10am to 4pm, and will offer a second booster jab to those who are eligible aged 60 years and over.

The HSE announced last week that people aged 50-64 and people with long-term health conditions would be offered second booster vaccines over the coming weeks, though the Castlerea clinic this weekend will only be providing second boosters to those who are 60 and above.

In addition, second booster vaccines are being offered for pregnant women who are 16 weeks and over and have not received a booster previously during their current pregnancy

First and second vaccine doses, and first booster vaccines, will also be available for those aged 12 years and above.

The HSE pointed out that the Castlerea clinic was by appointment only, and people interested in attending are asked to register at: www.hse.ie.

Breda Crehan-Roche, Chief Officer at HSE Community Healthcare West, said: "Vaccines are working and helping to prevent severe illness across Ireland.

"Therefore, it is important that people receive their booster/second COVID-19 vaccine as soon as they can. That way we can protect ourselves, our loved ones and our wider community.

"We would encourage eligible people to avail of the opportunity to take up a vaccination at the pop-up clinic in Castlerea."
