'Orange' status rainfall warning issued

Expected onset tomorrow morning from 4-8am

Met Eireann has issued an 'Orange' status rainfall for the region, the onset of which is expected in the early hours of tomorrow morning, Sunday, September 4.

The rainfall warning, to last from 4am until 8am, covered counties Cavan, Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Offaly, Westmeath, Donegal, Leitrim, Roscommon, Sligo and Waterford.

The national forecaster predicts localised "intense rainfall" of up to 50mm and "squals likely".

A Yellow status rainfall warning is in place for the rest of the country. which is in place from 1am on Sunday until 10am.
