A popular local hotel has gone on the market.

Cooney's Hotel, Ballymahon is offered for sale by Dublin-based Lisney Commercial auctioneers.

The 12-bed hotel and hospitality complex in Main Street was first developed back in 2006, and boasts a hotel reception, bar and lounge, restaurant, kitchens, stores and services on the ground floor.

Six en-suite bedrooms are based on the first floor, along with a function room and conferencing facilities.

Another six en-suite bedrooms are located on the second floor with a residential lounge and meeting room.

A more recent addition is an exterior sheltered and heated al-fresco dining area that can be that can be used throughout the year.

The marketing documents describe Cooney's Hotel as “an excellent opportunity to acquire a prominent and well-regarded family run licensed hotel premises” that is centrally positioned in Ballymahon and benefiting from the additional exposure so close to the Centre Parcs Longford Forest holiday village.

Well known for country music events, the hotel's legendary Monday night monthly gig with The Sheerin Family Band in years past attracted names like Nathan Carter, Lisa McHugh, Johnny Brady, Robert Mizzell, Matt Leavy, Philomena Begley and many more to the Ballymahon hotel.
