Westmeath footballer to appear on RTÉ's Ultimate Hell Week

Westmeath footballer Boidu Sayeh is taking part in this year's edition of Ultimate Hell Week - The Professionals which will broadcast tonight (Wednesday) on RTÉ ONE at 9.35pm.

Commenting ahead of his appearance on the gruelling special forces selection course Boidu said: "Delighted to be part of this with such an incredible group. I probably wouldn't do it again but loved every bit of it."

Twenty celebrity recruits are taking part in the intensive programme with each representing a charity of their choice. The stakes are high, the longer they can last in Hell, the more money they will raise for their worthy cause.

Rosemount footballer Boidu has selected World Food Programme as his chosen charity.

Other notable celebrities taking part include Mrs Brown's Boys actor Fiona O'Carroll, Broadcaster Bláthnaid Treacy, Social Media Creator Tadhg Fleming, Miss Ireland Pamela Uba and Munster Rugby Player Billy Holland.

Over six days, the celebrity recruits will be required to pass numerous rigorous physical and mental tests. Surviving on two to three hours of sleep a night, they will have to overcome cold-water events, height tests and claustrophobic challenges as well as various trials of strength, stamina and determination. With a failure rate upwards of 90%, only the toughest candidates will survive.

Based on the actual exercises and tests currently used on Special Forces selection, the defence forces have designed a course that will test recruits physical, emotional and psychological resilience.
