New baby and toddler group launched in Moate

A new baby and toddler group launched recently at Moate Library.

Kathleen Cleary from Moate Library said they felt there was a need for the service in the community.

Two new staff members at the library both have babies and were excited about the prospect of the new group. Local woman Irene O'Neill was also involved in the initial development of the group in an advisory capacity. She is also involved with Cuidiú breastfeeding support.

The group meets every Tuesday morning in the library from 10am to 12pm.

The playroom is full of toys for the babies and toddlers to enjoy such as building blocks, jigsaw puzzles and board books. Parents can enjoy a tea or coffee whilst chatting with other parents and sharing their parental experiences.

The launch took place on Tuesday, October 4 and Ms Cleary was happy to see that dads and grandmothers also came to the group meeting. “What's lovely about this group is there's no age limit so if you have two children it's no problem.”

“We've had very positive feedback from all the parents. It's a community space free for everybody.”

As the group continues to develop, they hope to introduce more workshops and activities such as story times and potty-training workshops.
