Preparations underway for annual 'monster auction' in Lecarrow

The annual 'monster auction' in St John's Community Centre, Lecarrow, will take place on Sunday, November 6, at 2pm.

Following on from the success of previous events, this year's showpiece is expected to be bigger and better than before.

The auction will be conducted in the same format as previous year's event, with pre-viewing of the auction lots from about 12noon.

All lots must sell and will be without reserve. Food and refreshments will be available to purchase on the day.

People wishing to bid at the auction must purchase a bidding number, which will cost €3 and is available on entry to the hall. With some 350-400 lots expected, organisers are advising people to arrive early for viewings on the day.

Donations are currently being sought for the auction. Goods in saleable condition are welcome, and can be in either new or second hand condition.

The drop-off times for items in the coming weeks are as follows: Wednesday, October 26 and Thursday, October 27, from 8-10pm; and Tuesday and Wednesday, November 1-2, from 8-10pm.

Items being sought might include working electrical equipment, furniture, services, livestock, vouchers, fuel, bric-a-brac, unwanted gifts or cash donations.

If you have not already donated or would like to arrange collection of items for the event, you can arrange to have them left to the community centre no later than 10pm on Thursday November 3.

To arrange a collection please contact any committee member, or David (086) 8952283, or Arnold (087) 6269443.
