St Hilda’s School celebrates Special Olympics success

Five pupils in St Hilda’s School participated in the Connaught Special Olympics competitions in Galway recently and achieved great success.

Fiona Rigney swam in the 50m Freestyle event and 25m Breaststroke winning Gold and Silver respectively. Fiona competed in the pool at Salthill, Leisureland.

Four of the St Hilda’s lads, Brian Soares DaSilva, Lee Gray, Brandon Murray and John Greene took part in Gymnastics on the day and competed superbly, bringing home eight medals between them. Each of the lads won gold and silver medals in the floor event and vault. Their competition was held in Renmore Gymnastics Club.

Preparation for the events had been ongoing for weeks prior and all five athletes put in a tremendous amount of training.

St Hilda’s School is hugely proud of the athletes’ achievements.
