Three suspected drug drivers arrested in Athlone

Gardaí in Athlone arrested three suspected drug drivers during road policing checkpoints in the Athlone area on Wednesday.

The trio, two males and female in their 20s, all failed the roadside detection test at the checkpoints for driving under the influence of drugs.

They were arrested and brought in to the station to give blood tests.

Charges may follow depending on the results.

According to the garda.ie website, the roadside preliminary drug test can can detect cannabis, cocaine, opiates and benzodiazepines.
