Athlone artist's 2023 calendar raising funds for local hospice

This is the sixth Christmas season in which Athlone artist Anna Boles has published a calendar of her artwork - and in the years since the initiative started it has raised almost €8,000 for good causes locally.

This year, the South Westmeath Hospice has again been chosen as the beneficiary for Anna's Scenes of Athlone art calendar.

The 2023 edition, which includes Anna's paintings of landmarks such as Athlone Castle, St Mary's Church, and the town's railway bridge, is now on sale in a variety of local businesses.

It remains priced at €15, with 25% of the purchase price going directly to the Hospice.

Anna said she was very thankful for the support the calendar initiative has received over the years, including from a range of local businesses who have provided sponsorship. "Of the sponsorship, 100% goes directly to the Hospice," she said.

The calendars are on sale in outlets including: Burgess, Athlone; Fernhill Garden Centre; Topline Heavins & Euronics; Ganlys Athlone Longford Mountbellew; Beans & Leaves; Poppy Fields; Glasson Craft Gallery; Tuar Ard Coffee Shop; Cunningham's Pharmacy and Sean's Bar, among others.

Anna added that she was willing to post calendars to people not based in the Athlone area who wish to purchase them.
