Actor with Athlone links stars in new TV drama starting tonight

The acclaimed Irish actor Aidan Turner, who has a close family connection to Athlone, is the star of a new TV drama series which gets underway tonight (Tuesday).

Aidan's grandmother Bridgie Turner (nee McAuley) is a local woman who resides in the Athlone area.

When her grandson began starring in the historical drama series Poldark, Bridgie adopted the affectionate nickname of Poldark's granny!

Aidan is now starring in The Suspect, which starts tonight at 9pm on Virgin Media More, exclusive to Virgin TV customers.

His role in the series sees him play Dr Joe O'Loughlin, a clinical psychologist who has an impeccable career, a glowing media profile, and a beautiful family.

He is brought in by veteran police officer DI Vincent Ruiz and his partner DS Riya Devi to assist in an investigation that could be a suicide, but also could be a murder.

As the investigation into the death gathers pace, unsettling questions begin to be asked about the brilliant professional and whether he may be harbouring an entirely separate, secret life.

The Suspect starts tonight at 9pm on Virgin Media More, which is channel 100 for Virgin TV customers.
