Another windy day with outbreaks of rain

Weather update from Met Éireann

Unsettled weather conditions and often windy with low pressure near Ireland. That's the latest outlook from Met Éireann.

Windy today with fresh or strong and gusty southwest winds developing, very strong at times on west and northwest coasts. Cloudy today with outbreaks of rain or drizzle. Driest in the east through the morning. Rain will clear eastwards later in the afternoon and evening with well scattered showers following. Afternoon highs of 9 to 12 degrees.

Lingering rain will clear the southeast early tonight to clear spells and well scattered showers. The showers will die out overnight. Remaining windy over the northern half of the country with fresh or strong southwest winds persisting. Winds will ease in the south. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 5 degrees.

A mix of cloud and bright spells tomorrow. Many areas will be dry however there will be some showers, mainly in the west and south. Persistent rain will push into the west and southwest from early evening. Light to moderate southerly winds will freshen in the afternoon, becoming strong along Atlantic coasts. Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees.

A wet night Friday with widespread outbreaks of rain. Rain will clear before dawn with showers following into Atlantic counties later. Blustery with fresh southerly winds, and turning rather cold with lowest temperatures of 3 to 6 degrees.

Saturday is expected windy with a mix of sunny spells and scattered heavy showers of rain or hail. Best of dry spells during the morning away from Atlantic counties. Fresh to strong southerly winds, very strong at times along Atlantic coasts with very high seas developing also. Highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees, but feeling colder.

Remaining windy overnight on Saturday with fresh or strong southwest winds, strongest up along Atlantic coasts with high seas too. Widespread showers, some of hail, with brief clear periods. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 7 degrees.

Sunday is promised breezy or blustery with fresh southwest winds, strong winds in most coastal areas with seas remaining high along the Atlantic seaboard. Further heavy showers with some bright spells. Hail likely. Highest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees with an added wind chill. Scattered showers will continue to feed in overnight in a moderate to fresh southwesterly airflow. Temperatures dipping to between 1 and 4 degrees.

Another day of widespread showers, some of rain or hail, on Monday. Mostly cloudy with occasional bright spells. Not as windy as previous days with mostly moderate to fresh westerly winds. Highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees.

OUTLOOK: A spell of rain and breezy weather with spread from the west overnight Monday and during Tuesday. Remaining unsettled and likely windy through midweek.
